Canalicchio di Sopra | 2020 Brunello di Montalcino

Francesco Ripaccioli is one of Montalcino’s most dynamic and progressive young winemakers. His grandfather Primo Pacenti founded the estate in 1962 and in 1967 Canalicchio di Sopra became one of the twelve founders of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino. The estate’s 19 hectares to the northeast of the town are split between the enviable Montosoli and Canalicchio ‘crus’ which offer high altitude coolness, unique exposure, and a selection of differing microclimates. Canalicchio’s wines are stamped with a signature purity thanks to ageing solely in large old oak casks. In 2020 the estate has again produced some of the finest expressions of the vintage and it won’t come as a surprise that the critics have placed their Brunellos amongst the elite. Highly recommended.
