A trace of reduction cannot completely dampen the spicy and earthy nose that is otherwise similar to that of the regular cuvée. There is slightly more depth and breadth to the suave, round and palate staining big-bodied flavors that also possess immense mid-palate concentration that creates a suave and seductive shock absorber for the big but round tannins that show up on the seriously long finish. This is terrific.Drink: 2021+

Most of the vines are of a good age (13 of the 18 bottlings are 45+yrs old "Vieilles Vignes".) As a firm believer in noninterventionist winemaking, Christophe uses no chemical fertilisers, employs a green harvest to bear only six to seven bunches per vine, and both harvests and sorts by hand. Each wine receives 30%-60% new oak (depending on its cru status), ages for 14-18 months and is bottled without fining or filtration.Read less

Region

Nuits Saint Georges

The second largest town after Beaune, Nuits St. Georges is known for ample wines that have textured tannins and rich fruit. Unlike other famous Côte de Nuits villages, it has no Grand Crus but does have a handful of exceptional premier cru vineyards such as Clos de l'Arlot, Les Pruliers and AuxMurgers. Its wines can be occasionally rustic, and this sets them apart from many of the more northern appellations as well as from the neighbouring Côte de Beaune whose wines (apart from Pommard) tend to be less structured and more fruit forward. This is no doubt due to a slightly increased presence of clay especially on the Primeaux-Prissey area of the appellation. Notable producers include Domaine de l'Arlot, Jean Grivot and Meo-Camuzet.
