Neal Martin, December 2014, Score: 90-92
The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cherbaudes does not quite possess the same fruit intensity on the nose as the other premier crus at this tage. This feels a little more conservative and straightlaced. The palate is sweet on the entry, fleshy and much more generous than the nose suggests, with a crisp thread of acidity and a caressing, sensual texture on the finish. Very fine. Drink: 2016 - 2030

Burghound, January 2015, Score: 89-92
(from .67 ha parcel planted in 1940). There is just enough reduction present to push what appears to be ripe fruit to the background. The round and succulent but powerful middle weight plus flavors possess a seductive mouth feel before terminating in a suave, vibrant, naturally sweet and solidly persistent finish. The supporting tannins are sufficiently firm to suggest that this should benefit from 7 to 10 years of cellaring. Drink 2021+

Sarah Marsh, November 2014, Score: 17.75
Lively ripe red fruit aroma with touch of almond. Summer fruits with high spice. Intriguing. Silky soft palate. Delicate with fine tannins and a light a pure palate. It is bright and shimmering. A slighter body, fresh on the finish. Score 17.75. From 2018
Region
Gevrey Chambertin
The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
