Neal Martin, November 2018, Score: 89?
The 2015 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru offers generous, slightly smudged red berry fruit on the nose; the oak is a little obvious at the moment and missing a touch of class. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, demonstrating a little more skin maceration than Tremblay's Chapelle-Chambertin, and rather blocky and tight-fisted on the black-olive-tinged finish. This could be better. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. Drink 2020-2032
Region
Chapelle Chambertin
One of the nine Grand Crus vineyards within the Gevrey Chambertin area. Chapelle-Chambertin's vineyards are on gentle slopes, sheltered from the elements by woods to the north. The thin rocky soil forces the vines to work hard. The exceptional wines produced in Chapelle-Chambertin are complex, powerful and incredibly long-lasting.
