    The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Village was cropped at around 28 hectoliters per hectare and is matured in 15 to 20% new oak. It has a well-defined bouquet with red cherries, wild strawberry and violet scents, quite precise and focused. The palate is noted by its grainy tannin, quite compact but fresh with a chalky-textured finish. I like the energy here and it should give several years of drinking pleasure. Drink 2018-2027

Otherwise there is a lovely vibrancy to the lacy and intense flavors that possess a polished mouthfeel thanks to the relatively fine-grained tannins, all wrapped in a serious and mineral-driven finale.     Bright dark red. Pure aromas of dark raspberry and bitter chocolate lifted by a note of blood orange. Juicy, savory wine with lovely energy and mineral thrust to its flavors of dark berries, spices and saline minerality. A restrained sweetness is currently swallowed up by a slight greenness. This persistent, firm-edged wine will rely more on its acidity than on its tannins for longevity.

    A cuvée assembled from 11 distinct parcels within the village, offering up a pretty, direct bouquet of cherry and raspberry, with hints of sweet soil and elegantly framed by a touch of new wood. The Hudelots are an ancient Burgundian family whose ancestry can be traced back to Chambolle since before the French Revolution. Needless to say, wine has been in their blood for almost as long. Alain Huedlot began his wine career in 1954 working for his father and other local growers. At the ripe young age of 20, he started renting vineyards from his family in Chambolle Musigny until eventually receiving other small parcels from his father. Following a passionate and whirlwind romance with the granddaughter of Charles Noellat, he married despite protests from her family. This controversial union ensured additional vineyards despite a harrying and lengthy legal battle. Today the domaine owns a total of 10 well-situated hectares, which are split over 5 communes. Alain Hudelot’s grandson Charles Van Canneyt is a man on a mission. Having arrived at the domaine from Champagne only six years ago, he is already considered one of the brightest young talents in the region. These wines are wonderful examples of traditionally styled Burgundy - superbly pure and focused with an undeniable sense of terroir.Read less

Chambolle Musigny

The wines of Chambolle Musigny are like no other. They can be superbly delicate, yet mindblowingly complex. Of all the northern Burgundy appellations, they are the most ethereal, and as a result the most feminine. Most of the Chambolle Musigny vineyard area is encompassed in its Village and Premier Cru appellations including the robust Beaux Bruns, the splendidly mineral Le Cras and the poised yet powerful Les Amoureuses. It produces only two Grand Crus - the round and rich Bonnes Mares which it shares with Morey St. Dénis, as well as what could be described as the Stradivarius of grand crus, Musigny.
