Goedhuis Waddesdon, April 2025
A gentle, beautiful, pinot-esque colour in the glass – almost transparent. A beguiling nose of pomegranate, grilled blood orange, petals and crushed rock. There’s a touch of smoked meat, or biltong, with some soy sauce, underneath the lifted and pretty nose. On the palate its incredibly structured and tense – which almost takes you by surprise as the lighter extraction might make you think it will be soft and simple! There’s a grippiness to the tannins, almost like that of a good dark chocolate, but then they melt aware, giving a lovely silky feel to the wine. Incredibly interesting, and one that will really blossom in bottle.

Wine Advocate, April 2025, Score: 95+
The village 2023 Navatalgordo has grapes (mostly purchased from regular suppliers) from five different parajes or lieu-dits from the stony and quartz soils from the village. It has a stony personality but a perfumed nose of violets and violet pastille, with silty tannins and good grip. It matured in oak vats to polish those village tannins. It's very complete and opens up in the glass nicely, as it's a little more austere than the one from Villanueva. This is the more tannic of the village reds. 9,965 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2024. Drink Date: 2025 – 2034.
