  • Goedhuis, January 2011

Open black berry aromas, this is a very easy gentle Vosne Romanée concentrating on the natural sweet berry flavours of the vintage, with a very appealing fresh vanilla finish.

  • Neal Martin, January 2011, Score: 90-92

Tasted out of barrel at the Domaine. Not quite as expressive as the Chambolle-Musigny, but very well defined with hints of redcurrant and crushed rose petals. The palate has a strict, crisp entry with tart red cherries, a silver thread of acidity, very well defined towards the finish that has a tannic kick right on the finish. A little compact at the moment, but sure to unwind after bottling.

  • Burghound, January 2011, Score: 87-90

A mix of wood and natural spice sits atop red and blackberry liqueur aromas that merge intosophisticated and really quite elegant flavors where there is a touch of bitterness to the finish that I suspect is related to the large amount of gas present as the tannins appear quite ripe. Benefit of the doubt offered. 2015+.

  • Burghound, January 2012, Score: 90

A mix of wood and natural spice sits atop red and blackberry liqueur aromas that merge into rich, concentrated and pure flavors that happily possess plenty of extract as the tannins are robust and quite firm. This is a relatively powerful effort that isn’t an exercise in finesse but it most impressive nonetheless. A big Vosne villages. 2016+.Comments: outstanding!

  • Jancis Robinson, January 2011, Score: 16.5

Real race on the nose; recognisably Vosne but at this stage Vosne Lite. Lots of life and quite sinewy. Great freshness and at this stage easy to like even without great depths – yet?

He only has around 4.25 hectares of vines, therefore the quantity that he makes is particularly small. Traditionally, Burgundy domaines are renowned for being minute in size, and he is definitely amongst the smallest. In addition, he has some of the most exceptional vineyards, which read like a Who's Who list of the Côte de Nuits, many of which are located next to grand crus sites. This combination is lethal for allocations. Too little wine with too many open hands all waiting for their fair share. SInce 2011 his talented son, Sébastien, has been running the domaine.Read less

Region

Vosne Romanée

The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
