    The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a clean and crisp strawberry and red-plum-scented bouquet that is lifted and quite precise. The palate is a little skinny on the entry and does not quite deliver the expected body toward the finish. Drink: 2015 - 2020

    This too is quite firmly reduced. Like the Morey there is good freshness and pep to the mineralinflected medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by firm and ripe tannins on the sleekly muscular and robust finish that evidences a mild touch of austerity. There is a bit more depth here compared to the Morey and this will need a few years of cellar time to enhance the overall sense of depth. Drink 2020+

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask.The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. Gevrey Chambertin

The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
