Neal Martin, January 2019, Score: 91-93
The 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru, a cru that Jean-Nicolas Méo believes has progressed in recent years (although he still served it before the top Vosne-Romanée Premier Crus), has a clean, precise bouquet of violet-tinged red berry fruit, not powerful but full of vim and vigor. The well-balanced palate is quite linear and strict in style, displaying crisp tannin and a little rigidity on the finish that should be addressed by the time it finishes its élevage. 2022 - 2037
Region
Echézeaux
One of two Grand Crus within the Flagey-Echezeaux area right in the heart of the Cote de Nuits. Relatively large and consequently diverse for a Grand Cru, the better Echézeaux wines undoubtedly deserve this status. As always in Burgundy vineyard location and grower is critical.
