  • IN BOND prices exclude UK Duty and VAT. Wines can be purchased In Bond for storage in Private Reserves or another bonded warehouse, or for export to non-EU countries. Duty and VAT must be paid before delivery can take place.

  • RETAIL prices include UK Duty and VAT. Wines for UK delivery can only be purchased this way.

  • Duty Paid wines have been removed from Bond and cannot subsequently be returned to Bond.  VAT is payable on Duty Paid wines. These wines must remain Duty Paid but can be purchased as such for storage subject to VAT.

    As well as bright red fruits and pretty floral aromatics, there are also some darker fruits, bitter orange and a savoury balsamic edge to the 2018 San Lorenzo. Distinctive and elegant, the smooth, ripe tannins are slightly more mouth coating on this cuvée. They give generous breadth and carry the soft violet and sweet peach flavours that evolve on the palate.

    The 2018 Barolo San Lorenzo di Verduno is an especially somber wine. Black cherry, gravel, spice, leather and scorched earth show the darker side of Nebbiolo at play. There's good depth here, along with plenty of tannin. Give this a few years to soften. Drinking window: 2024-2043.

    A shade darker than their Del Comune di Verduno and with a firmer nose of cherry and raspberry with plenty of depth. Ripe and deep. Hints of mint and cardamom, but not from new oak as this has seen only large casks. Elegant and sappy cherry fruit palate with firm, finely chiselled tannins which never dominate the fruit. Succulent and with a fine, long, tannic grip on the finish. Drink 2022-2032.

The family has tended vines in the region since the beginning of the 19th century and today their 12 hectares stretch over some of the best crus in Verduno and also Monforte. This is a true family affair, Gian Battista Alessandria and his wife Flavia tend to the vines while his brother Alessandro and his son Vittore are in the winery. Together, they craft high-quality artisanal wines from the Nebbiolo grape variety but also from some Dolcetto, Barbera and the little-known Pelaverga variety. Barolo

With Brunello in Tuscany, Barolo is undoubtedly Italy's finest wine producing region. Located in Piedmont in the north west of Iataly Barolo is comprised of 5 major communes - Barolo, Monteforte d'Alba, La Morra, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba - though the latter three tend to represent the main styles of the region. The wines are compelling and polished - an exemplary expression of the Nebbiolo grape. DOCG law requires a minimum ageing of 2 years in cask or barrel yet can be longer depending on the producer. Barolos are generally released four or more years after the vintage.
