Neal Martin, June 2020, Score: 92-94
The 2019 La Lagune has a finely chiseled bouquet, a mélange of red and black fruit, touches of damp clay, undergrowth and cedar developing with time. These aromatics are very nuanced and deserve time, not impactful but intellectual. The palate is medium-bodied with fine but firm tannins. Very linear and correct in style, it feels fresh and sapid, though I would have liked more flair to show through on the saline finish. Still, I like the grip and I suspect it will give 25-30 years drinking pleasure. 2025-2050

Antonio Galloni, June 2020, Score: 91-93
The 2019 La Lagune is superb. Medium in body, yet beautifully resonant, the 2019 is understated at first, but opens up with a bit of time in the glass. Dark red cherry, red plum, licorice, mint, blood orange and dried flowers add striking layers of nuance. The 2019 is a gorgeous La Lagune. I loved it.

James Suckling, June 2020, Score: 94-95
This shows very good concentration of ripe fruit in the center palate with medium body, ripe tannins and a wet-earth, berry and bark aftertaste. Lots of tannins and structure at the end. Solid. From organically grown grapes.

Jancis Robinson, June 2020, Score: 17
Pep and vitality on a rather refined, dark-fruit and floral nose. Plenty of backbone but the tannins finely honed. Long and linear with drive and persistence but sufficient mid-palate fruit to fill the holes. Clean finish. Should stay the course. (JL) Drink 2027 – 2038
Region
Haut-Médoc
The Haut-Médoc is an appellation within the Médoc that stretches along the left bank of the Gironde from Blanquefort in the south to the north of Bordeaux. The region encompasses the more famous communes of St-Estèphe, Pauillac, St-Julien and Margaux. Following the 1855 classification many of its most famous estates were classified and scored as first, second, third, fourth or fifth growths. This was based on their social and commercial positions at the time. Most of these classed growths use the village appellation name, such as Pauillac. However five of these classed growths fell outside a village appellation so take the name Haut-Médoc. Many of the vineyards which are classified as Haut-Médoc may actually also be referred to as Cru Bourgeois wines. These wines have lower permitted yields and so offer great value for money.
