  • Goedhuis, December 2022

A superb location in the appellation and rightly one of the vineyards put forward for Premier Cru promotion. Les Longeroies lies in the north of the village and produces a brilliant bright red fruit style of wine. Shining scarlet colour with glazed cherry aromatics. A very pure, bright and direct style, with lift and energy. There is a fine degree of structure, with a more forward nature, giving accessibility and pleasure.

  • Burghound, January 2023, Score: 89-91

A beautifully layered nose features notes of both red and dark cherry, spice and a whiff of the sauvage. There is once again a really lovely sense of energy to the delineated, chiseled and saline-inflected finale where a touch of pit fruit slowly emerges. This is sufficiently structured to need the better part of a decade to fully mature, yet it should be approachable after only 4 to 5 if desired. Drink 2029+

  • Matthew Jukes, January 2023, Score: 17.5

I like Clos du Roy, but my pick of the entire Audoin range is this tremendous cuvée, and this is not the first time that Les Longeroies has outperformed the others, including the pricier Gevrey. Nicely balanced and with good earthiness and flesh, this is an impressive wine with a great price and a decent future.

Region

Marsannay

The most northerly appellation of the Cote d'Or, Marsannay is also the only appellation authorised to produce red, white and rose wine. Only created in 1987, this is an interesting area where quality is improving. Top producers include Bruno Clair, Meo-Camuzet and Denis Mortet.
