The 2022 Richebourg Grand Cru comes from 0.4 hectares and is matured entirely in new oak. This has a fabulous bouquet with more intensity than the Cros Parantoux at the moment, with precocious yet controlled red fruit, floral with superb delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with sensual ripe tannins and layers a mineral-rich red fruit with a precise but lengthy finish. Is it the best Richebourg the Domaine has ever made? Not sure about that. But it has an unmistakable nobility. Drinking Window: 2026-2048.

From a .37 ha parcel in Les Véroilles of 60+ year old vines saved for a very tiny parcel in Richebourg proper. An exuberantly spicy nose is much more expressive than it usually is with its aromas of rose petal, violet, lavender, sandalwood, hoisin and once again, exotic tea nuances. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the gorgeously textured and refined yet seriously powerful larger-bodied flavors that conclude in a hugely long if moderately austere, balanced and stylish finish. This is robust yet classy and a wine that should also amply repay 15 to 20 years of keeping. Don't miss! Drinking 2037+.

  • Jasper Morris MW, December 2023, Score: 97-99

A beautiful purple. Ravishingly exuberant. This has the headiness of Brûlées and the nuance of the Echezeaux, with the effortless joy of the Cros Parantoux. Evidently this is gorgeously all in place, and heading in the right direction. This is certainly very fine already, and may yet develop to a higher place. Some producers might push for the Richebourg to be even more intense, but this is in no way forced and will be remarkable. Drink from 2035-2045+.

Domaine Méo-Camuzet

When Jean-Nicolas Méo arrived in 1989 he had very big shoes to fill. Henri Jayer, arguably Burgundy’s preeminent vigneron, had managed the domaine for the previous four decades under a share-cropping agreement with the Méo family. Since then Jean-Nicolas has more than met the challenge. Following meticulous viticultural and winemaking practices he creates wonderful wines with fine levels of concentration, and today, almost three decades since his ascension, it ranks in the upper echelons of the Burgundy firmament. The majority of wines are red, ranging from Bougogne Rouge up to their ultra-famous Cros Parantoux and outstanding Richebourg. But Jean-Nicolas also makes a miniscule production of white wine. He began planting the Chardonnay for his Clos St. Philibert on steep slopes overlooking Nuit St. Georges over 25 years ago from carefully selected Chardonnay clones. Domaine Méo-Camuzet has expanded its line of 'vins de négoce' in recent years. These wines are bottled under the 'Méo-Camuzet Frères et Soeurs' label.
