Burghound, November 2009, Score: 93
(From a bottle opened at the domaine). At ten years of age, this remains quite fresh with a lightly spiced, elegant and pure nose of still largely primary earth-suffused red and dark berry fruit aromas that marry into supple, stylish and delicious medium weight plus flavors that possess mouth coating structure on the linear and moderately austere but impressively long finish. The structural elements are notably firm but well-integrated and the overall impression is one of harmony and as such, this should age gracefully for years. Drink: 2019+.

Burghound, January 2001, Score: 90-92
1999 Clos de Vougeot: (Méo owns a whopping 3 ha of Clos de Vougeot, all of it superbly placed high on the slope, across from the Château). The Clos de Vougeot has never been the Domaine's strongest wine, for reasons that havealways mystified me since they own so much of it, permitting severe selection and the parcel itself is perfectly situated; this 99 though is well worth your consideration. It's marked by the new wood today but in contrast to theausterity typical of young Clos de Vougeot, the pinot spice is seductive and wonderful in its effusiveness. The flavors too are open, fine and elegant to the point of being almost easy going yet there is no lack of power, richness or concentration. Really quite lovely.

Clive Coates, May 2002, Score: 18
Good colour. Rich and ripe and rather more oaky on the nose than Grivot's. Fullish body on the palate. Not too oaky. Very rich, even sweet. Fine balance. Lots of depth. Fine plus. Drink 2008 - 2025.
