Goedhuis, July 2015
Ch Sénéjac is one the Haut-Médoc’s most consistent estates as highlighted by this excellent 2010. Richly coloured and mouthfilling with a palate full of sweet plums, blackcurrants and chocolate. This has notable density and concentration and is reminiscent of the 2005 but with a bit more edgy power.

Neal Martin, September 2012, Score: 91
Tasted at the Crus Bourgeois 2010 tasting in London. The Sénéjac has a superb bouquet with vigorous blackberry, wild strawberry and tobacco-tinged aromas that soar from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy, dry tannins. There is plenty of substance here with a dash of black pepper and cedar on the finish. Very St. Estephe like: this is an excellent cru bourgeois. Drink now-2018.

Robert Parker, February 2013, Score: 89
Another sleeper of the vintage, Senejac’s 2010 (a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc with a touch of Petit Verdot) exhibits wonderful intensity, an opaque purple color, and opulent blackberry and blueberry fruit along with hints of charcoal, white chocolate and graphite. This lush, heady, rich wine is a considerable over-achiever from this property in the northern Medoc that can be drunk over the next 6-8 years. A member of the Alliance des Cru Bourgeois du Medoc.

Robert Parker, MAy 2011, Score: 87-90
Pontet-Canet's brilliant proprietor, Alfred Tesseron, has begun to look after the wines of Senejacand the result is a tasty, elegant 2010 offering copious berry fruit notes intermixed with hints of cedarwood and spice. This cuvee should be drinkable upon release and evolve for a decade. Drink: 2011 - 2021

Wine Spectator, April 2011, Score: 89-92
Still compact, with a very briary, juicy core of plum, dark currant and braised fig, followed by a roasted tobacco edge on the finish. Offers lively acidity. Should unwind nicely. -J.M.
Region
Haut-Médoc
The Haut-Médoc is an appellation within the Médoc that stretches along the left bank of the Gironde from Blanquefort in the south to the north of Bordeaux. The region encompasses the more famous communes of St-Estèphe, Pauillac, St-Julien and Margaux. Following the 1855 classification many of its most famous estates were classified and scored as first, second, third, fourth or fifth growths. This was based on their social and commercial positions at the time. Most of these classed growths use the village appellation name, such as Pauillac. However five of these classed growths fell outside a village appellation so take the name Haut-Médoc. Many of the vineyards which are classified as Haut-Médoc may actually also be referred to as Cru Bourgeois wines. These wines have lower permitted yields and so offer great value for money.
