  • Stephen Tanzer, December 2017, Score: 91

Medium red. Complex, soil-driven scents of raspberry, smoke, pepper, rose petal and dried herbs. Dense, smooth and quite dry; offers good breadth but quite withdrawn in the early going, showing limited fruit sweetness and a bit dominated by its firm tannic spine. Fairly intense black cherry, menthol and peppery herbs throughout. Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins that will need patience.

  • Decanter, Score: 91

Smoky nose of cherry and dark fruits. Lean attack, silky and quite concentrated. The palate is lively with a bright acidity but lacks some depth despite the abundance of old vines. Well balanced and supple, with integrated tannins and a long finish.

  • Jancis Robinson, January 2017, Score: 16.5+

Cask sample. Bright fruit and very correct and precise though with no shortage of acidity in evidence. Lots of smooth, ripe fruit though. Ticks the boxes. Very clean.
