Goedhuis, December 2017
The most esteemed of the village’s premier cru vineyards, this is a beautifully pure harmonious style, with red cherry fruits and a mineral tannic core. Full and long on the finish.

Neal Martin, December 2017, Score: 90-92
The 2016 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Vergelesses has a well-defined bouquet with scents of blackberry, hints of blueberry and crushed rose petals, a distant scent of cold stone emerging with time. I would have just liked a little more precision perhaps, but the aromatics certainly have charm. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, more structured and austere than the Fournaux with a strong, brine-tinged finish. This will require three or four years in barrel to smooth the edges, but again, this has good potential. Drink 2021-2034

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Score: 94
The 2016 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Vergelesses is a stunning wine in the making, unfurling in the glass with a decidedly complex bouquet of rose petals, raspberries and cassis that mingle with notes of dark chocolate, grilled squab, licorice, spices and rich soil tones. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, layered and beautifully concentrated, with superb depth and dimension, succulent acids and fine structuring tannins, concluding with a sapid finish. While quantities are small, Bize fans will not want to miss this Vergelesses. William Kelley – The Wine Advocate
Region
Savigny-lès-Beaune
The picturesque village of Savigny-lès-Beaune, just to the north of Beaune, is a relatively prolific producer in Burgundian terms. Less serious than its neighbours, Pommard and Volnay, these are nonethless delicious wines - perfumed, delicate and elegant. A tiny amount of white is produced.
