Diamond Creek
In 1968, visionaries Al and Boots Brounstein changed the destiny of Napa Valley wines forever. Ignoring the naysayers and recognising the region’s potential for growing exceptional Single-Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, they ventured to plant Bordeaux varietals while the creditors tried to convince them otherwise. With naught but a borrowed tractor, Al cleared 20 acres of land in the secluded Diamond Mountain AVA, and Diamond Creek was born. Carved out of the mountain, Diamond Creek consists of four distinctly different vineyards – Gravelly Meadow, Lake Vineyard, Red Rock Terrace, and Volcanic Hill – all of which are blessed with a unique microclimate and soil type. While the single vineyard wines are vinified and matured identically, each wine has its own personality, expressing the individuality of the microsites from where they are grown.
Now owned by the Rouzard family of world-renowned Maison Louis Roederer, the Brounsteins have found the perfect successors to Diamond Creek: a family with a deep devotion to history and tradition, and a pioneering vision for the future of all its estates.
