    Chalk and clay make up the terroir of this vineyard in the south of Sancerre. Part fermented in barrel and aged on the fine lees, this 2018 is deeply mineral and delicately earthy. The palate is rounded and silky with delicious dried orchard fruits and a saline freshness. A heavenly food wine.

Sancerre

The picturesque town of Sancerre perches atop a hill on the left bank of the Loire with vineyards planted on limestone and clay hillsides. A total of 14 villages and 3 hamlets have the rights to produce Sancerre, and, due to the increasing popularity of the wine, the area under vine trebled in the last quarter of the 20th century. Often considered the classic home of Sauvignon Blanc, good Sancerre is crisp, elegant and aromatic, and among the finest and most complex Sauvignons in the world. Delicate reds and roses are also made from Pinot Noir.
