Jancis Robinson, November 2022, Score: 17++
Mid to deep, developed-looking ruby with orange tinges. Gentle and concentrated on the nose and with a peppery tingle, but still holding back a little. With aeration, pretty cherry fruit emerges from the glass. Reveals more and more layers the longer it sits in the glass. Supple and generous without being heavy and with lots of fantastic, grainy tannins layered underneath the fruit. Lush and finely balanced finish but very slow and backwards. Drink 2026-2040.

Kerin O’Keefe, March 2023, Score: 94
Exotic spice, blue flower, eucalyptus and ripe berry aromas come to the forefront along with a whiff of new leather. Still young and tight but also savory and juicy, the firm, linear palate features raspberry compote, ripe red cherry, cinnamon and licorice framed in taut, refined tannins. Bright acidity keeps it well balanced. This is still youthfully austere so give it time to fully develop. Drink 2029–2039.
Region
Barolo
With Brunello in Tuscany, Barolo is undoubtedly Italy's finest wine producing region. Located in Piedmont in the north west of Iataly Barolo is comprised of 5 major communes - Barolo, Monteforte d'Alba, La Morra, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba - though the latter three tend to represent the main styles of the region. The wines are compelling and polished - an exemplary expression of the Nebbiolo grape. DOCG law requires a minimum ageing of 2 years in cask or barrel yet can be longer depending on the producer. Barolos are generally released four or more years after the vintage.
