  • IN BOND prices exclude UK Duty and VAT. Wines can be purchased In Bond for storage in Private Reserves or another bonded warehouse, or for export to non-EU countries. Duty and VAT must be paid before delivery can take place.

  • RETAIL prices include UK Duty and VAT. Wines for UK delivery can only be purchased this way.

  • Duty Paid wines have been removed from Bond and cannot subsequently be returned to Bond.  VAT is payable on Duty Paid wines. These wines must remain Duty Paid but can be purchased as such for storage subject to VAT.

  • En Primeur wines can only be purchased In Bond. On arrival in the UK these wines can either be stored In Bond in Private Reserves or another bonded warehouse or delivered directly to you. When you decide to take delivery, Duty and VAT at the prevailing rate become payable.
  • Goedhuis

    Both the Rothenberg and Pettenthal vineyards are composed of red slate. The difference is that in the Pettenthal you’d find more crumbly red slate while in the Rothenberg it is distributed in larger plates. This often bestows Rothenberg with a richer, spicier, more rounded character. This 2020 fans out on the nose with a broad spectrum of crystalline lime-tinged citrus fruit and expressive spice. Notes of flint, smoke, rosemary and olive oil wrap around the palate and combine with the tingling mineral tension and electric acidity. The finish is long, firm and amply refreshing. Drink 2023 - 2045.

Weingut Gunderloch is nestled in the quaint village of Nackenheim in the Rheinhessen. Famous for its 250-million-year-old steep red slate soils that flank the mighty Rhein river, Rheinhessen Rieslings used to be more sought-after than those from the Mosel. In fact, when the Titanic sank, the most expensive bottle on board was a Riesling from this region! Gunderloch is one of its oldest, most established estates and the family own some of the best ‘Grand Cru’ sites in the valley including the red sandstone vineyards of Nackenheim Rothenberg and Nierstein Hipping, as well as the weathered red shale of Nierstein Pettenthal. What’s more, the estate is one of the founding members of the VDP and winemaker Johannes Hasselbach serves as chairman for VDP Rheinhessen (as did his ancestors at various points). A passionate advocate of sustainability, Johannes is leading the VDP’s long-term plan, implementing measures such as using lighter bottles to reducing their carbon footprint. Johannes is a talented and incredibly switched on winemaker, producing seriously exciting wines from the family’s top vineyards. He carries out his ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and uses only indigenous yeast. An exciting detail of Johannes’ winemaking is his preference to start some small site-specific fermentations in the vineyard and add these ferments to the tanks in the cellar, allowing native yeast from his special terroir to shine through.
