Born out of Benjamin de Rothschild's desire to create a leading Sauvignon Blanc, the Rimapere estate in Marlborough was chosen for its exceptional terroir and climate. The name of the property was a deliberate choice: it means 'five arrows' in Maori and simultaneously honours the Rothschild family's emblem and traditional New Zealand culture. Rimapere enjoys an incredible terroir. The vineyard comprises 24 hectares of vines that are ideally situated on the prestigious Rapaura site, known as the ‘Golden Triangle’, where the alluvial soil comprises mainly pebbles and gravel. Sauvignon Blanc is grown on 20 hectares and 4 hectares are kept aside for the cultivation of Pinot Noir. The vineyard is sustainably farmed, with an average age of around 15 years. This area’s cool climate is perfect for ripening high quality Sauvignon Blanc grapes and providing them with their typical lemon and grapefruit flavours, together with crisp acidity.Read less
