Goedhuis, August 2020
Our new house Champagne Paul Goerg Premier Cru Brut Tradition, is a wonderfully vibrant cuvée which focuses on Chardonnay, for which the village of Vertus is famous for. The blend is 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir. It has an additional period sur lattes allowing for a minimum of 3 years before disgorgement and a further 6 months before release for sale, resulting in a finer and more complex style.

Matthew Jukes, October 2021
Lovely, open and gentle, with superb texture and bitingly fresh finish, this is a thrilling wine with invigorating tension under a diaphanous palate. The epitome of a Côte des Blancs classic, the tender nose, crisp middle and zesty finish make it an easy to fall for and one that is difficult to put down. With a price more suited to the High Street than an elite merchant, this is magnificent Champagne.

Goedhuis, December 2022
Charles Heidsieck’s NV is a bottle you won’t be able to resist popping. Waves of silky crème patissiere are lifted by a racy lemon zest freshness, the moreish flaky pastry richness beautifully balanced by the vibrant mineral core. Almost half the blend here is from Heidsieck’s reserves, with 10 years of ageing and a small proportion of oak ferment lending depth and complexity to this lovely Champagne. A gourmet superstar.

WK, August 2022, Score: 92
Based on the 2017 vintage, complemented by 50% reserve wines (emphasizing Pinot, which was in short supply in the base vintage), Heidsieck's NV Brut Réserve exhibits aromas of sweet citrus fruit, buttery pastry, dried white flowers, bee pollen, crisp orchard fruit and praline. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, with a pretty core of fruit, lively acids and chalky structure, it's a giving, charming wine that will offer a broad drinking window. Drink 2022-2035.

Antonio Galloni, March 2022, Score: 93
The 2015 Brut Blanc de Blancs marries textural intensity with a good deal of freshness. White pepper, dried herbs, chalk, mint and citrus make a strong opening impression. I especially like the energy and tension here, but there’s plenty of depth, too. I would give the 2015 a year or two in bottle, maybe more, as it is quite reticent in the early going. It, too, is seriously impressive for the year. Drink 2024-2034.

So much bread dough on the nose, together with green-apple and pear undertones that follow through to a full body with soft, creamy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Subtle and polished. Drink now.

WK, March 2022, Score: 93
After the pillowy, chiseled 2013, Pol Roger's 2015 Brut Blanc de Blancs is cut from richer, broader cloth. Offering up aromas of crisp golden orchard fruit, white flowers and subtle hints of warm biscuits, it's full-bodied, broad and vinous, with a fleshy core of fruit, lively acids and a precise, chalky finish. In style, it's reminiscent of a somewhat more sun-kissed version of the 2012 rendition. Drink 2021-2035.

Antonio Galloni, August 2021, Score: 97
The 2007 Brut Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart is positively stellar. Elegant, polished and sophisticated, the 2007 dazzles with effusive aromatics and gorgeous balance. It's not an obvious wine, though, but rather a Champagne built for long, patient cellaring. The 2007 is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay taken from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Ambonnay, Verzenay and Verzy for the Pinots and Chouilly, Avize, Cramant and Mesnil for the Chardonnays. In other words, as good as it gets for villages. The wine was done mostly in tank with about 15% of the lots vinified in oak. Dosage is 6 grams per liter. (Originally published in May 2021)

Wine Advocate, September 2021, Score: 97
Disgorged with six grams per liter dosage, the 2007 Brut Cuvée Nicolas François is showing very nicely, offering up aromas of fresh bread, citrus oil, crisp yellow orchard fruit, white flowers, verbena, macadamia nut and hints of biscuity complexity to come. Full-bodied, chiseled but fleshy, its vinous core of fruit cloaks the vintage's brisk acids to achieve real plenitude in a year that's sometimes rather tautly austere. Long and penetrating and complemented by a pretty pinpoint mousse, this is a real success. Drink 2021 - 2041.

2007 Billecart-Salmon, Cuvée Nicolas François is an absolute joy. [...] In terms of sophistication, elegance and unrivalled precision, this is the wine to buy. I raved about the 2007 Cuvée Louis and this wine is made in a similar vein. This is a sensational vintage for Billecart and NF will outlive Louis given that it has more horsepower under the bonnet. [...] I am in complete awe as to how these wines are so fine and so laser-sighted in their youth. NF is a class apart.
