Jean Stodden's Pinot Noirs
Ahr is not that much warmer than the Mosel, but its steep slopes of slate and greywacke heat up in the sun and radiate warmth back to the vines and fruit. It is the red wine paradise of Germany, producing Pinot Noir of supple power and concentration. The Stodden family has been growing grapes in the region since 1578 and have holdings in some of the Ahr’s most important grand cru sites including Recher Herrenberg, Ahrweiler Rosenthal and Dernauer Hardtberg.
