  • Goedhuis, December 2019

In the Middle Ages, this vineyard neighbouring Morey St Denis was known as the “Petite Marveille” (tiny wonder). A beautifully refined and elegant style with flavours of raspberry and loganberry. The tannins are fine and silky, and it radiates grand cru complexity. Layered and very exciting.

  • Neal Martin, January 2020, Score: 93-95

The 2018 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru is a vineyard where half the vineyard was pulled out in winter 2018. It does not deliver quite the same precision and detail as the Chapelle-Chambertin this year. Intense blackberry, raspberry and light cedar aromas unfold gently in the glass. The palate is well balanced with more red fruit compared to the Chapelle, a slightly creamy texture and a sensual, very harmonious, quite rich yet detailed finish. It might drink slightly earlier than the Chapelle-Chambertin, but it may well have equal longevity. 2023 - 2050

  • Burghound, January 2020, Score: 88-90

Strong menthol influence fights a bit with the very ripe essence of essence of cassis, spice and forest floor. The vibrant, better detailed and more mineral-driven flavors also terminate in a mildly edgy finish as the tannins are raspy though not tough. Drink 2030+

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less

Region

Latricières Chambertin

Latricières-Chambertin is one of the nine Grands Crus in the Gevrey-Chambertin district on the Côte de Nuits, producing red wine from Pinot Noir. It is located on a gentle slope in the far south of Gevrey-Chambertin next to the Morey-St-Denis border. The vineyard lies on white oolite soils, sheltered from the winds and hail by the woods of the Montagne de la Combe Grisard to the North West. When young these wines are bursting with strawberry and raspberry flavours, as well as violets and gamey undertones. Compared to other Grand Cru Gevrey, Latricières-Chambertin is not ultra-powerful and seems to exude a sublime lacy quality.
