  • Goedhuis, December 2020

Morey St Denis is not short of impressive Grands Crus. Locals would argue that this is the finest of them all, perhaps because the village is named after this Clos. A wine of great nuance and complexity. Freshly picked raspberry and loganberry merges with a touch of blueberry underneath. Controlled, and balanced between softly intense tannins, ripe fruits and a glorious racy brightness. Very long and so much class.

  • Neal Martin, December 2020, Score: 94-96

The 2019 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru was fully destemmed and has an elegant, refined bouquet of earthy red fruit, crushed rose petals and a touch of white tea. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip on the entry, and quite sappy in style, leading to a clean, precise finish. This is impressively detailed and has great length. A very sophisticated Clos Saint-Denis for long-term aging. 2024-2050

  • Burghound, April 2021, Score: 94

Perceptible yet subtle wood influence suffuses the very pretty aromas of spice, poached plum and exotic jasmine tea. The succulent and highly seductive medium-bodied flavors flash good minerality on the impressively complex, balanced and sneaky long finale. This is extremely classy while offering a Zen-like of harmony. Drink 2034+

  • Jasper Morris MW, December 2020, Score: 94-96

Rich purple in colour, with a sensual noise showing its oak at the moment. Luxury rich hedonistic style of fruit, wearing heart on its sleeve, ripe rich red fruit, but dynamic and a nice touch of whole bunch at the finish to liven it up. Grenadine notes as well. 4 stars.

Region

Clos Saint-Denis

Tucked between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, and sharing the same stratum of limestone, Morey-St-Denis is unfairly less celebrated than its better known neighbours. It boasts five Grand Crus, including Clos-St-Denis. Slightly lighter than Clos-de-la-Roche, Clos Saint-Denis' wines balance delicacy, finesse and wonderful Pinot fruit - the quintessential Grand Cru of Morey-St-Denis.
