Located east of Cape Town in a remote corner of the beautiful Franschhoek valley, Boekenhoutskloof is one of South Africa’s most revered wineries. Although the estate has been in existence since 1776, it wasn’t until talented young winemaker, Marc Kent, bought the property back in 1993 that Boekenhoutskloof started to see its stock rise; in the last decade the estate has twice been voted Winery of the Year by distinguished South African journalist John Platter. Restoring the vineyard to its former glory, the new owners established plantings of European varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Grenache. While Boekenhoutskloof is better known for its exceptional red wines, the estate also produces a sumptuous white from old vine Sémillon, as well as a few cases of their Noble Late Harvest – a celestial sweet wine made in the mould of a Sauternes.Read less
