  • Goedhuis, March 2024

The vines used to make this wine are actually planted within Condrieu but André feels that this northern part of the appellation is more suited to Marsanne and Roussanne. Normally a blend of equal parts of both varieties, in 2022 it sees a touch more Marsanne as Roussanne struggled in the 2022 summer heat. It is delicious, balancing a honeyed apricot richness against a steely, mineral freshness. Silky, pure and long, we couldn’t help ourselves going back for another sip. Impossibly good value. Drink 2024-2028.

  • Vinous, October 2023

The 2022 Saint-Joseph Blanc neatly blends Marsanne and Roussanne in equal proportions. Blossom elements mingle with lemon flesh, yellow apple and discrete cedar. Medium-bodied and refined, the 2022 offers a refreshing profile and a slightly creamy texture. Drink 2023-2025.

Domaine André Perret

André Perret needs little introduction: he is the master of light-footed, complex Viogniers from the granite soils of Condrieu. The appellation is known for its rich, mouth-coating whites best drunk in their youth, although André’s sophisticated, expressive examples also have the potential to age well in bottle too. Region

St Joseph

St Joseph is the longest appellation in the Rhone, extending along the western banks of the Rhône river from St. Péray to Condrieu. It produces both red wine from Syrah and white wine from Marsanne and/or Roussanne which tends to be early drinking and can be traditional or modern styled depending on the producer. Created in 1956, St Joseph is a young appellation which has seen extensive expansion of its vineyard area over the last 25 years. As a result, many producers feel that there is great potential in the quality of its terroir which has yet to be discovered. Due to its lesser known status, St Joseph wines often provide excellent value for money.
