  • Burghound, October 2009, Score: 90

While maturing at a reasonable rate as there are the initial nuances of secondary aromas that display plenty of earth and ripe black fruit that complement the relatively big flavors that possess fine power and very good length if still more limited complexity than one might reasonably expect to see at 10 years of age. Though this could be drunk now with 45 to 60 minutes of aeration| I personally would allow it to slumber for another 5 years or so first. In sum, a solid if not sensation effort in the context of the quality this wine typically displays. Drink: try 2014+.

  • Burghound, January 2002, Score: 90

Dense, ripe, black fruit, ripe dusty tannins and big flavors of earth and spice and a driving, persistent finish. This is still somewhat monolithic and tight and will need 8 to 10 years to fully express itself. Austere, balance and long with all the elements in place to evolve positively. Drink 2009-2015

  • Burghound, January 2001, Score: 91-93

1999 Clos de Vougeot: This too is hardly charming in style but the quality of the underlying material clearly says “ grand cru ” with its dense, ripe, black fruit, ripe dusty tannins and big flavors of earth and spice. A wine that will need 8 to 10 years to fully express itself though it should hold for a number of years thereafter.
