Made from the white grape variety Arneis which means ‘rascal’ in local dialect. Bruno Giacosa, along with Alfredo Currado of Vietti, pioneered the development of Arneis in the 1970s. While a localised hailstorm sadly impacted quantities of the 2023, Bruno is very happy with the quality. Bright and fresh, there is a pure, saline character redolent of crushed oyster shell to the juicy stone fruits. Beautifully complex with its white floral notes and intense minerality. A firm Goedhuis favourite. Drink 2023-2027

The 2017 Barolo Villero is delicate and lifted in this vintage, with impeccable balance and tons of class. Villero is not an easy site to find balance, but the 2017 Oddero sure has it. Sweet cherry, crushed raspberry, rose petal, orange peel and cinnamon give the 2017 lovely aromatic nuance to match its mid-weight personality. Drink 2025-2037.

  • Vinous, April 2021, Score: 92

The 2017 Barolo del Comune di Verduno is an absolutely gorgeous wine. This is the first vintage in which the Barolo 'classico' becomes a Barolo del Comune di Verduno, in other words, a wine only from Verduno. Pliant and deep, the 2017 is striking right out of the gate. A wine of tremendous balance, the 2017 is a total pleasure to taste. Today the flavors are naturally quite primary, but there is so much to like. Bright red berry fruit, blood orange and spice punctuate the finish. Vineyard sites are Rivarocca, plus smaller pieces from Pisapola, Campasso, Rocche dell'Olmo and Boscato. Drink 2024 - 2037.
