  • Goedhuis, November 2018

Here culminates the greatest attributes of the Tollot-Beaut cellar: opulent fruit matched by silky, smoky new oak. This is a suitably extravagant wine for its grand cru status. Generous in its dark cherry fruit weight and luxurious in its velvet-like texture. Although big and bold, it is also balanced and well-pitched. Well-executed and deluxe.

  • Neal Martin, September 2021, Score: 92

The 2017 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru has a clean, crisp, almost clinical bouquet of red cherries and wild strawberry, bright and perky; the oak here is neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, yet there is good depth and an attractive underlying pepperiness. It fans out gently toward the finish, retaining admirable balance and delineation. Give it just two or three more years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. Drink 2023 - 2036

  • Neal Martin, January 2019, Score: 91-93

The 2017 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru, matured in 50% new oak, has an elegant, floral, seductive bouquet of pure raspberry preserve and crushed strawberry scents, along with touches of clove and wild heather in the background. The palate has more energy and tension than the Corton Grand Cru and shows impressive precision and length toward the lightly spiced finish. Excellent. 2022 - 2038

  • Burghound, April 2019, Score: 93

A subtly floral-inflected nose combines notes of violet and lavender with those of spiced plum, dark currant and plenty of spice influence. The Tollot Bressandes is typically a fairly muscular wine but in 2017 it is more a wine of refinement on the moderately concentrated flavors that deliver good punch on the well-balanced and more complex finish that flashes just a hint of youthful austerity. Sweet spot. Drink 2029+

  • Jancis Robinson, January 2019, Score: 18

Mid crimson. A little riper and richer on the nose than the Beaune Clos du Roi. Immensely attractive on the palate, irresistible and I could almost drink this now. Intense fruit purity, smooth, polished texture and long fresh finish. Perfect harmony. Pure pleasure. Drink 2020-2032

The wines of Tollot-Beaut are some of the best we taste every vintage. Uncomplicated, pure and fresh, they epitomize everything that we love about wines from the Côte de Beaune. In addition, their fleshiness and approachability makes them perfect for cynics who claim that Burgundy is not their cup of tea. The 22-hectare domaine has been family-owned for years. Today, the young, friendly and exceptionally bright Nathalie Tollot manages the domaine with her cousins. The wines are vinified fairly traditionally. About 40% of the crop is de-stemmed, though this varies depending on vintage. The wines are fermented in open-top wooden vats before being aged in oak barrels that are 10-50% new. Very lightly fined and filtered before bottling, the resulting wines are often opulent with noticeable density, always clean and superbly pure. Just wonderful Burgundy.Read less
