Neal Martin, October 2019, Score: 91-93
The 2018 Chambertin Grand Cru is completely de-stemmed and has a lovely blackberry, briar and mineral-driven bouquet that feels well defined and vivacious. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, very grippy tannins that lacquer the mouth. This is a bold, assertive Chambertin; what it needs is a little more nuance and precision toward the finish. Maybe that will evolve with time.

Decanter, May 2021, Score: 94
Concentrated, deep and long, with a velvety texture, ripe mulberry fruit and a pleasantly persistent finish. Jacques Prieur farms nearly a hectare in Chambertin, including a half-hectare of ancient vines. In 2018 the harvest began on September 5th. Vinification was fairly traditional and the grapes were completely destemmed, spending five days macerating before fermentation on native yeasts. The extraction was done by twice-daily punching down and a bit of maceration after fermentation.
Region
Chambertin
Gevrey Chambertin lies well to the north of the Cote de Nuits. It has no less than 9 grand cru vineyards and the most famous of these is Chambertin. Often considered the greatest of all red Burgundies for its complexity, power and intensity, Chambertin's fine wines are unsurprisingly rare and are priced accordingly. They also need years to develop to their full potential, but are undoubtedly worth the wait.
