An outstanding premier cru on the Gevrey hillside. A little more reserved than the nearby Lavaux, but with the same mark of masculinity and careful power. Whilst hiding some of its colours, tasting from cask, you can really feel all the potential waiting to burst out.

This is very Gevrey in character with plenty of sauvage, freshly turned earth, forest floor and brooding wild dark berry and cassis scents. There is fine richness to the concentrated, powerful and full-bodied flavors that exhibit a subtle minerality on the moderately austere and impressively long and slightly grippy finale. Drink 2030+. Outstanding
Mingling aromas of sweet wild berries with rich bass notes of forest floor, spice and grilled squab, the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is medium to full-bodied, broad and concentrated, with rich structuring tannins, comparatively low acidity and a long, sapid finish.
Fine glowing crimson purple with a really well-balanced nose, was delicate when just Faiveley but the Dupont sector brought more clay and more weight. It is certainly ripe but it is also totally in balance, giving a pure and concentrated deep red fruit with some spices round the edge, and as always for this vineyard that mineral feel at the finish.
The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
