Goedhuis, November 2019
The grapes for this cuvée come from the estate’s highest altitude vineyards, some 400 metres up. While the nose is a little closed for now, the palate excites and teases with its juicy richness and intensity. The minerality and freshness of this wine work in tandem with the earthy personality of the Gigondas terroir to produce a profound wine with a satisfying grip on the finish.

Wine Advocate, August 2019, Score: 93-95
The 2018 Gigondas Terrasse du Diable comes from yields that ended up being approximately half of the average for the estate (only 11 hectoliters per hectare). It's full-bodied, with a rich yet silky texture, ripe flavors of cherries and raspberries and a long finish that hints at clove and licorice. The exact blend for the domaine's wines was yet to be finalized when I tasted this sample, but historically, this cuvée is about 85% Grenache and 15% Mourvèdre. Drink Date 2020 - 2030

Jeb Dunnuck, September 2019, Score: 91-93
Mostly Grenache from terraced, higher elevation sites in the Gigondas, the 2018 Gigondas Terrasses Du Diable offers a beautiful perfume of kirsch and ripe red fruits as well as loads of spice, graphite, and peppery herbs. With plenty of sweet fruit, solid mid-palate depth, ripe tannins, and a beautiful finish, it has plenty of upfront appeal and will keep for over a decade.
Region
Gigondas
An area for red and rosé wines Gigondas has been an appellation in its own right since 1971. Though they can occasionally be more rustic, the reds are often considered a miniature version of Châteauneuf du Pape. Part of this may have to do with the same limited yield restrictions and minimum alcoholic strength (12.5 %), but they also share some of the same varieties including Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Certain bottlings can be approached shortly after release, but many benefit from several years of cellaring. Like Châteauneuf du Pâpe, aged bottles of Gigondas take on appealing gamey and forest floor aromatics which make them particularly enjoyable with roast meats.
