Jean-Luc worked for many years alongside his brother Jean-Paul at the much-vaunted family estate, Domaine Jamet. In 2013, the brothers decided to split the 16-hectare estate evenly and go their separate ways. Jean-Luc was always in charge of the vineyards and today he and his son Benoit tend to vines located on the famous slope’s most enviable terroirs. The top cuvee, the Côte Rôtie Terrasses, is a blend of the appellation’s top lieux-dits including La Landonne, Lancement and Chavaroche. After a few years of selling the grapes to pay for investments in the winery, the domaine has only very recently started bottling. Jean-Luc has hit his stride with the 2018 vintage and the Côte Rôtie Terrasses has all the characteristic finesse and brightness you’d expect from a top example, such is the lure of this appellation. As Rhône expert John Livingstone Learmonth puts it, “This is no pretension, authentic Rôtie”. Jean-Luc also makes a stunning Côtes-du-Rhône from 100% Syrah. We thoroughly recommend discovering this domaine and its top drawer examples of Syrah. It's a delight to see the talented Jean-Luc back at it again. It won't be long before these wines are propelled into the limelight.Read less
