    The domaine owns eleven different parcels across the village, so it is unsurprisingly a model Chambolle. A combination of bright pure racy red cherry fruit, with some ample richness. The tannins are gentle, and it has a delicious juicy succulence to it.

    The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a well-defined bouquet with dark berry fruit, touches of wilted iris flower and incense. Very attractive. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine acidity, but it attenuates a littles towards the finish. Fine sapidity, but just missing a bit of flair. Drink 2025-2036.

    Ripe and fresh aromas include those of plum, red and dark cherry and a whiff of crushed fennel. The sleek, wonderfully refined and equally energetic flavors exude a subtle bead of minerality on the lacy, focused and bitter pit fruit-inflected finale. This is very “Chambollesque”. Drink 2026+

    A fine plump mid purple. There is a depth of fine raspberry fruit, darkish in register, Fresh red pepper behind at the back, the vintage style indicating bare maturity – but that is fine for my palate. Drink from 2025-2028.

The Hudelots are an ancient Burgundian family whose ancestry can be traced back to Chambolle since before the French Revolution. Needless to say, wine has been in their blood for almost as long. Alain Huedlot began his wine career in 1954 working for his father and other local growers. At the ripe young age of 20, he started renting vineyards from his family in Chambolle Musigny until eventually receiving other small parcels from his father. Following a passionate and whirlwind romance with the granddaughter of Charles Noellat, he married despite protests from her family. This controversial union ensured additional vineyards despite a harrying and lengthy legal battle. Today the domaine owns a total of 10 well-situated hectares, which are split over 5 communes. Alain Hudelot’s grandson Charles Van Canneyt is a man on a mission. Having arrived at the domaine from Champagne only six years ago, he is already considered one of the brightest young talents in the region. These wines are wonderful examples of traditionally styled Burgundy - superbly pure and focused with an undeniable sense of terroir.Read less

Chambolle Musigny

The wines of Chambolle Musigny are like no other. They can be superbly delicate, yet mindblowingly complex. Of all the northern Burgundy appellations, they are the most ethereal, and as a result the most feminine. Most of the Chambolle Musigny vineyard area is encompassed in its Village and Premier Cru appellations including the robust Beaux Bruns, the splendidly mineral Le Cras and the poised yet powerful Les Amoureuses. It produces only two Grand Crus - the round and rich Bonnes Mares which it shares with Morey St. Dénis, as well as what could be described as the Stradivarius of grand crus, Musigny.
