Goedhuis, March 2023
The 2019 Barolo Camilla is a blend of vineyards in Verduno, Grinzane Cavour, Roddi, La Morra, and Serralunga. An incredibly pure expression of this classic vintage, it has a beautiful perfume of red cherry, strawberry and wildflowers mixed with fresh mint, cinnamon and spice. Juicy and sapid, but tightly coiled on the palate for now, we are excited to see this unfurl over the next few years. Such a fine chalky texture and long, fresh finish. Just delightful. Drink 2025-2035.

Kerin O’Keefe, February 2023, Score: 93
This fragrant red opens with aromas of violet, fruitcake and dark spice. The full-bodied palate offers cherries soaked in spirits, raspberry compote and licorice framed in taut, close-grained tannins. Made with grapes from different vineyards, this is the estate’s classic Barolo. It’s still rather tightly wound but will be accessible in just a few years. Drink 2026–2034.
Region
Piedmont
Piedmont is located in the north western corner of Italy. Though several grape varieties are prominent such as Dolcetto, Barbera and Moscato, it is Nebbiolo that reigns supreme. It produces wines that are not particularly deep in colour, yet they are perfumed, powerful and can age for many years. Due to the ethereal nature of the Nebbiolo grape and the numerous single vineyard wines, many compare top examples to grand cru Burgundies of the Côte de Nuits.Mountainous, its vineyards are cut into the hillsides forming terraces reminiscent of the Mosel Valley in Germany and the northern Rhone Valley in France. The two most notable appellations are Barolo and Barbaresco.
