    The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village has pastille-like purity on a nose of wild strawberry and raspberry, which remains tight in the glass, violets only reluctantly emerging with aeration. The palate is well balanced and the 20% new oak neatly integrated. Smooth and focused with hints of mandarin and blood orange toward the finish. Not huge length here, but nicely crafted.     A slightly riper and decidedly spicier nose speaks of more deeply pitched aromas of poached plum, cassis and floral nuances that are trimmed in a lovely array of spice wisps. The succulent, very rich and velvet-textured medium weight flavors are blessed with an abundance of dry extract that serves to buffer the moderately firm tannic spine. This is also a quality Vosne villages that should drink well on the earlier side if desired. Outstanding. Drink 2026+

The Hudelots are an ancient Burgundian family whose ancestry can be traced back to Chambolle since before the French Revolution. Needless to say, wine has been in their blood for almost as long. The Hudelots are an ancient Burgundian family whose ancestry can be traced back to Chambolle since before the French Revolution. Needless to say, wine has been in their blood for almost as long. Alain Huedlot began his wine career in 1954 working for his father and other local growers. At the ripe young age of 20, he started renting vineyards from his family in Chambolle Musigny until eventually receiving other small parcels from his father. Following a passionate and whirlwind romance with the granddaughter of Charles Noellat, he married despite protests from her family. This controversial union ensured additional vineyards despite a harrying and lengthy legal battle. Today the domaine owns a total of 10 well-situated hectares, which are split over 5 communes. Alain Hudelot’s grandson Charles Van Canneyt is a man on a mission. Having arrived at the domaine from Champagne only six years ago, he is already considered one of the brightest young talents in the region. These wines are wonderful examples of traditionally styled Burgundy - superbly pure and focused with an undeniable sense of terroir.Read less

Vosne Romanée

The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
