  • Goedhuis, December 2022

The very old vines in this parcel (70 years) produce small and intense berries. This results in layers of black cherry and blackberry. The full concentrated intensity sits comfortably within a gracious amplitude true to the appellation. A very pretty style.

  • Neal Martin, January 2023, Score: 90-92

The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes comes from 60-year-old vines. It offers undergrowth-infused dark berry fruit, hints of star anis emerge with time, open and expressive. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannins, quite citric thanks to the silver bead of acidity, touches of hoisin towards the sustained finish. Excellent. Drink 2024-2040.

  • Jasper Morris MW, December 2022, Score: 88-90

Pretty mid purple colour. Another slightly reductive nose though with good fruit generosity behind and a pleasing floral touch. This has been racked twice to clear the reduction. It now offers a delicious sweet fruit finish, quite persistent. Drink from 2025-2028.

Domaine Legros spans 6.5 hectares, covering appellations in Nuits St Georges, Chambolle Musigny and Morey St Denis. It is the epitome of a family holding: winemaker François took on the vineyards from his parents and uncle at the end of the 1980s, and in 1999 he acquired yet more vines from his father-in-law. It is the epitome of a family holding: winemaker François took on the vineyards from his parents and uncle at the end of the 1980s, and in 1999 he acquired yet more vines from his father-in-law. The latest chapter now sees François joined by his two daughters, Charlotte, a graduate of the Lycée Viticole de Beaune, who manages the vineyard, and Laure, who looks after the commercial side of the business. This estate is clearly going places. It sees a proud, happy father guiding the dynamic, talented and ambitious next generation, with impressive results.Read less

Region

Chambolle Musigny

The wines of Chambolle Musigny are like no other. They can be superbly delicate, yet mindblowingly complex. Of all the northern Burgundy appellations, they are the most ethereal, and as a result the most feminine. Most of the Chambolle Musigny vineyard area is encompassed in its Village and Premier Cru appellations including the robust Beaux Bruns, the splendidly mineral Le Cras and the poised yet powerful Les Amoureuses. It produces only two Grand Crus - the round and rich Bonnes Mares which it shares with Morey St. Dénis, as well as what could be described as the Stradivarius of grand crus, Musigny.
