    William Fèvre owns 47 hectares over 40 different sites within the appellation averaging 45 years of age. A maximum of 15% of the blend is barrel fermented, crafting a Chablis with charm and appeal. Characters of sherbet Dip Dab leap from the glass. This is a bright and racy wine, full of fresh grapefruit and oyster shell.

    Here the expressive nose is similar if perhaps just a bit more elegant and displaying a whiff of mineral reduction as well as more Chablis typicity. There is slightly better volume to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess unusually good power in the context of the appellation and the only nit is a trace of warmth. This too should drink well after only a few years of keeping. Outstanding

    Biscuits, chopped apples and almonds on the nose, followed by a fresh, mineral and medium-bodied palate. Nicely balanced. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.

    The domaine’s holdings cover 38 ha, and the various cuvées have just been blended, and will stay on lees through to December. Pale lemon yellow. An entrancing bouquet, on the sunnier side but with a mineral undercurrent. Sherbet on the palate along with citrus, good concentration, and an evenly balanced finish. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted Jun 2024.

    A blend of 65% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre, this cuvée sees no oak as Jean-Michel and Fréderic prefer to vinifiy and mature in stainless steel so as not to mask the fruit and terroir. The 2022 is rather Pinot Noir-like in its fruit profile, mixing high-toned strawberry and raspberry fruits with some blackberry and blueberry. There are some peppery, garrigue undertones to the succulent fruit which has a sweeping freshness on the palate backed up chalky tannins. In 2022 cuvée St Roch has lower alcohol levels than usual, which you can feel in its agility and lithe structure. A true pleasure to drink. Drink 2025-2029.

    The 2015 Cantemerle is a blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot. It offers plenty of blackberry and raspberry fruit on the nose, not the best defined that I encountered among the Haut-Médocs, but with plenty of "stuffing." The palate is medium-bodied with supple red and black fruit on the entry matched with a fine thread of acidity. There is a pleasing crescendo in the mouth driven by that Merlot content and it finishes with some swagger. This is a very fine Cantemerle exuding joie-de-vivre that I can see doling out plenty of drinking pleasure over the next decade and beyond. Tasted thrice with consistent notes.

    The 2015 Cantemerle is ripe, juicy and forward, with good overall depth and plenty of juiciness. Sweet red cherry, new oak, herb, blood orange, anise and earthy notes wrap around the fleshy, inviting finish. This is an especially racy, forward style, but there is good tannic grip as well. Tasted two times.

    The medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cantemerle has a nose of warm plums, blackberries and red currants with a waft of fragrant earth.     One of the sleepers of the vintage, the 2015 Cantemerle is even better from bottle than it was from barrel. Dark cherry, plum, licorice, new leather and tobacco all flesh out in this inviting, resonant Haut-Médoc. A wine with gorgeous presence and no hard edges, Cantemerle captures all the sheer early appeal of the vintage. Cantemerle is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, with dollops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. 2018-2033

    The 2015 Cantemerle has a well-defined bouquet with red cherry, crushed strawberry and just a touch of eucalyptus, though all are nicely packaged and focused. This has moderate vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, fleshy tannins. This bears traces of sur-maturité, it's a bit prune-like and raisiny toward the finish. Tasted blind at the 2015 Bordeaux Ten-Year-On tasting at Farr Vintners.
