Burghound, October 2005, Score: 92
As readers know, I am not a huge fan of the '97 vintage, finding the reds to often possess a slightly under ripe and greenish character to the structure despite having very ripe, indeed sometimes stewed, fruit. This however is a lovely effort in the context of the vintage with ripe but not over ripe and quite spicy fruit aromas that are still almost entirely primary that are followed by rich and very firmly structured, even robust flavors that possess plenty of density and enough acidity to keep everything in balance. This will not seduce or charm you but it is a mouthful of wine that is built along the lines of power and punch rather than elegance and grace. It will require ample time in the cellar to reveal its full potential and while this was by no means the finest wine of the tasting, it is indisputably an excellent effort for the vintage.Drink: 2012+.

I have raised my score slightly as the last two bottles have displayed even more complexity and it's possible that there is even more upside in the offing.

Le Musigny
Le Musigny is a red Grand Cru vineyard based in Burgundy’s Chambolle Musigny village in the Côte de Nuits. Le Musigny is situated between the scrubland at the top of the slope and the upper section of Clos de Vougeot on well-draining limestone soil. The wines of Le Musigny are some of the best in Burgundy on a par with those of Romanée Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze.
