Goedhuis, May 2007, Score: 91-94
Emmanuel seemed particularly pleased with the results of his 2006 stating that it has turned out tobe as good as his 2000. Its round, plush tannins and overall sumptuous mouthfeel give it notable grace and elegance while its fresh mineral undercoat and clean acidity add a lick of freshness. Produced from 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot and 7% press wine of which the majority is Cabernet.

Robert Parker, February 2009, Score: 94
Now consistently one of the great wines of the appellation, d'Issan has produced a densepurple-colored wine with a beautiful set of aromatics offering a smorgasbord of aromas such as perfumed flowers, incense, graphite, licorice, blueberry, and black currant. The wine is seamlessly constructed, like a fine dress from a haute couture house. With fabulous concentration of fruit, the ethereal elegance and sublime character of this wine make it seem to almost float across the palate with substantial flavor penetration and laser-like focus. This is a gorgeous example of 2006 that can be drunk in 3-4 years or cellared for over two decades. Good value.

Robert Parker, May 2007, Score: 90-93
This elegant 2006 reveals abundant amounts of spring flower, sweet cherry, black currant, earth, and licorice characteristics along with fine ripeness, an ethereal, delicate style, beautiful concentration and purity, and a savory texture. It should easily keep for 15 or more years. Drink: 2007 - 2022

Jancis Robinson, May 2007, Score: 16.5
Pretty dark crimson. Rich and round and lively, Pretty impressive balance. A little sharp in terms of acidity but good ripe fruit into which a great deal of effort has obviously gone. Thick and quite rich though pretty stolid a considerable proportion of press wine apparently.
Region
Margaux
Plump, silky and seductive are the words often used to describe wines from Margaux. Because of their style, they tend to be user friendly and more approachable when young. This is in part due to its terroir which is comprised of the thinnest soil as well as the highest proportion of chunky gravel in all of the Médoc. It drains well but also is it more susceptible to vintage variation. Margaux wines tend to have the highest proportions of Merlot within the core of the Médoc further adding to their ample roundness and openness. Margaux is home to the largest number of classified growths including its namesake first growth, Château Margaux, as well as third growths, Palmer and d'Issan.
