Rising above the slopes of Sant'Angelo in Colle southeast of Montalcino stands a majestic 16thcentury villa which is home to the Argiano estate. In 1992, Countess Noemi Marone Cinzano acquired the estate which came with 100 hectares of superb vineyard land, olive groves and stone subterranean cellars as ancient as the villa itself.Shortly thereafter, she produced her first wines, including Solengo, a Super Tuscan blend ofCabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, which debuted in 1995 to exceptional reviews. Unlike other Super Tuscan estates which are located in and around Bolgheri and Maremma, Argiano benefits from the Montalcino microclimate. Its higher altitude provides warm winds that dry out any humid conditions and cooler nights allowing its natural acidity to be retained. A very polished estate with very polished wines.Read less
