  • Goedhuis, December 2022

The polar opposite to the Chambolle Musigny, this high-class village wine is made from a single parcel in the lieu-dit Basses Maizières, which is just below Les Suchots towards the border with Vougeot. Wild bramble fruits, a deep and intense style, with flavours of vanilla pod and Moroccan spice. A full flavoured wine, with fine breadth on the palate.

  • Neal Martin, January 2023, Score: 88-90

The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Village is clean and precise on the nose with black cherry and raspberry fruit, fine focus and just a touch of violet petal coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, quite sapid and almost Morey-like with a touch of black olive on the structured finish. Good potential, but this may require longer in bottle than its peers. Drink 2025 - 2037. 88 - 90 Points. Neal Martin

  • Burghound, January 2023, Score: 88-91

A more deeply pitched nose offers up overtly spicy notes of plum, dark berries and cool floral nuances. The succulent, round and delicious medium-bodied flavors possess better mid-palate density if not quite the same refinement on the lingering and balanced finish that could use a bit more depth. • Jasper Morris MW, November 2022, Score: 89-92

A vibrant mid purple. Some intensity of fruit but not much detail. For this wine the pepper is evident right at the start. Rather dense, rather backward, curious to know if this is a full snapshot of the wine or just a stage. The tannins are more pronounced behind. Drink from 2026-2032.

The Hudelots are an ancient Burgundian family whose ancestry can be traced back to Chambolle since before the French Revolution. Needless to say, wine has been in their blood for almost as long. Alain Huedlot began his wine career in 1954 working for his father and other local growers. At the ripe young age of 20, he started renting vineyards from his family in Chambolle Musigny until eventually receiving other small parcels from his father. Following a passionate and whirlwind romance with the granddaughter of Charles Noellat, he married despite protests from her family. This controversial union ensured additional vineyards despite a harrying and lengthy legal battle. Today the domaine owns a total of 10 well-situated hectares, which are split over 5 communes. Alain Hudelot’s grandson Charles Van Canneyt is a man on a mission. Having arrived at the domaine from Champagne only six years ago, he is already considered one of the brightest young talents in the region. These wines are wonderful examples of traditionally styled Burgundy - superbly pure and focused with an undeniable sense of terroir.Read less

Region

Vosne Romanée

The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
