  • Goedhuis, May 2008

One of the most popular white Bordeaux, Smith Haut Lafitte is produced from a less traditionalblend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Semillon and 5% Sauvignon Gris. It is then fermented and agedin oak barrels of which 50% are new. The 2007 was a delight to taste with its relaxed approachablepalate. Fleshy peach and apricot with candied almonds fill out the palate while its fresh grassy undertones and mineral salts added complexity and lift. Inviting and tender finish.Drink 2010-2016

  • Neal Martin, June 2017, Score: 91

Tasted at BI Wine Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Smith-Haut-Lafitte has a delightful bouquet of cedar-tinged red berry fruit mixed with cloves and Chinese five-spice, all well defined and quite Saint Julien-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, hints of sandalwood and truffle infusing the decayed red fruit but with plenty of substance and freshness on the finish. I reckon after a decade, this Pessac-Leognan is à point and should be consumed now and over the next 8-10 years. Tasted February 2017. 91/100. Drink 2017-2027

  • Jancis Robinson, April 2008, Score: 17

Sweet, rich, heady nose. Big and broad and heavy and almost sweet. Good citrus (lime) acidity too. Interesting and not just run of the mill Massive richness ambitious! Drink 2010-14.
