Burghound, January 2015, Score: 91-94
(from 25% En Gémeaux and 75% En la Chapelle). The brooding nose is more restrained and primary than the Latricières with an even earthier array of deeply pitched black currant, plum and violent scented aromas. The overtly muscular and attractively stony big-bodied flavors possess solid mid-palate concentration that does a fine job of buffering the firm supporting tannins on the moderately austere, persistent, well-balanced and palate staining finish. This backward effort will likely need 12 to 15 years to reveal its full potential. Drink 2025+
Region
Chapelle Chambertin
One of the nine Grand Crus vineyards within the Gevrey Chambertin area. Chapelle-Chambertin's vineyards are on gentle slopes, sheltered from the elements by woods to the north. The thin rocky soil forces the vines to work hard. The exceptional wines produced in Chapelle-Chambertin are complex, powerful and incredibly long-lasting.
