Burghound, January 2015, Score: 94-96
(from a 1.13 ha parcel). A reticent, even shy but highly complex nose features intensely floral aromas of pure wild red berry fruit, wet stone, sandalwood and a whiff of exotic tea. This is a bit like the Amoureuses in that there is an intriguing contrast between the sheer scale and power of the big-bodied flavors with the silky palate impression that continues onto the massively long finish that is underpinned by very ripe and well-integrated tannins. I particularly like the lovely sense of tension and this should age well for years to come, though once again, note well that this will require ample bottle age before it can deliver all of its considerable potential. This Zen-like effort is unlikely to match the majestic 2012 but it is still a stunningly good Musigny. Drink 2028+

Sarah Marsh, November 2014, Score: 20
This has a petal and perfumed aroma. It was showing surprisingly expressive aromatics on the nose. Very retrained on the palate though. Taut, straight, quivers with tension. Delicacy with power…such precision on the impressively sustained finish. Score 20. From 2025
Region
Le Musigny
Le Musigny is a red Grand Cru vineyard based in Burgundy’s Chambolle Musigny village in the Côte de Nuits. Le Musigny is situated between the scrubland at the top of the slope and the upper section of Clos de Vougeot on well-draining limestone soil. The wines of Le Musigny are some of the best in Burgundy on a par with those of Romanée Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze.
