    This is fresher though still quite ripe with its restrained nose of freshly turned earth, animale, forest floor and that certain Gevrey character which suffuses the red and dark currant aromas. There is exceptionally good volume and ample richness to the tautly muscular but velvet-textured mineral-driven middle weight plus flavors that deliver excellent length on the mildly austere finale. This is still very much a work in progress and I would suggest buying this only if you have the patience to cellar it as it's going to need every bit of 12 to 15 years. Outstanding Drink 2027

Domaine J Confuron-Cotétidot

Yves Confuron runs this family domaine located in Vosne-Romanée, as well as making wines for Domaine de Courcel in Pommard. The wines of Confuron-Cotétidot are characterised by their amazing ability to age and develop. As well as some enviable Grand Cru parcels the domaine also has two hectares of the great Vosne Romanée Premier Cru Les Suchots.

Gevrey Chambertin

The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
