  • Neal Martin, December 2016, Score: 90-92

The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru comes from four different lieux-dits from north to south of the appellation. It has an attractive bouquet with black cherries, bilberry and orange blossom; the oak neatly folded into the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, masculine in style with subtle tobacco notes infusing the slightly broody and yet fresh and tensile finish. It deserves a couple of years in bottle and should evolve into a very attractive Morey-Saint-Denis.

  • Decanter, Score: 90

Perfumed, floral nose that has great charm and poise. Fresh, luminous attack with tannins present but not excessive extracted. Lifted, spicy and very long.

  • Jancis Robinson, November 2016, Score: 17

Dense and luscious on the nose. Polished and a little like scented talcum power. Opulent but with good freshness. Drink 2019-2035.

Jacques spent several years learning winemaking from the late, great Gerard Potel at Domaine de la Pousse d’Or and he has been a great proponent of including the stems in fermentation. Over the years, Jacques and his wife Rosalind expanded the domaine and today the family has 15.5 hectares including seven grands crus. Today, two of their children, Jeremy and Alec, as well as Jeremy’s wife Diana, have joined the Jacques and Rosalind in the family business which continues to be one of Burgundy’s leading domaines.Read less
