  • Goedhuis, December 2021

Rapet’s Corton comes from 2 different parcels on the Aloxe Corton side of the hill. The vines here are planted on red iron soil providing substance and backbone to the naturally harmonious style of wine for which Vincent strives. This is a glorious cuvée, bright scarlet in colour, with a mass of damson and wild fruit, and touch of fruit compote. The graceful volume is in unison with the ripe textured tannins. Superb length and very layered.

  • Burghound, April 2022, Score: 92

This is notably more floral in character with its pretty and ripe blend of red and dark berry aromas that are trimmed in plenty of warm earth elements. The delicious, vibrant and well-detailed flavors are not especially dense though they do flash good minerality on the noticeably firmer, moderately rustic and sneaky long finale. Despite not being particularly concentrated, this is sufficiently structured that it will very likely need more than a decade of cellaring to arrive at its apogee. Drink 2032+

  • Jasper Morris MW, January 2022, Score: 92-94

Deeper in purple but also definitely fresher both in colour and on the nose. This is delicious, really well poised, little alpine strawberries and fresh raspberries, just a touch of acidity, much less in the way of tannins. Medium plus persistence, the sort of Corton which if only it has originally not been classified as grand cru we would have a much greater reverence for.

Located between Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, the Pernand Vergelesses vineyard, tucked away in the green surroundings of a quiet valley, begins at the foot of Corton hill. It is the only vineyard to offer the whole range of vintages, in both white and red wines. Ageing of both red and white wines occurs in oak barrels (30% new for white and 20% new for red). All winery processes are undertaken to minimise the handling of the grapes.Read less

Region

Corton

The Grands Crus of Corton, a red made from Pinot Noir, and Corton Charlemagne, a white made from Chardonnay are shared between Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix Serrigny and Pernand Vergelesses. The vines for both are planted on the hillsides underneath the plateau of Corton's woodland forest. The majorityof Pinot Noir is planted in the southern and eastern sector where the soil is naturally rich with red iron clay giving additional body and power. Overall, the wines from these areas tend to be fruit forward and fleshy with a balance of round edges and fine concentration.
